POW*MIA Rodeo

Home

Greetings Veterans and Fellow Patriots:

There is a lot starting to happen and we need your help to make these events successful. Please join us this Friday, April 19th at 7:00pm at Liberty Hall for our General Meeting so you can confirm your willingness to help and even what time you would like to assist with the POW/MIA Memorial Highway 26 Clean Up, Community Fundraiser, Idaho Field of Heroes set up. The 21st Annual Idaho Thunder Run, and the 24th Annual POW*MIA Awareness Rally and Motorcycle Rodeo.

April 27th is the date for our spring clean-up of our section of the POW/MIA Memorial Highway 26. Make sure you bring gloves. The trash bags, safety vests and water will be provided.  We will meet at the corner of N740 (Moreland Road) and Highway 26 at noon. We have the signs scheduled until 4pm, but we are normally out of there long before that. We have a ton of fun playing “Bingo” and it’s always interesting to see what we can find. Troy has confirmed that our signs are in his hands and he is working on getting them put up on the 2 mile stretch of road that we are assigned to clean.

The Community Fundraiser is next month. This is the time to clean out your closets, garage and donate your gently used or new, unused items. The fundraiser will take place on May 11th at Liberty Hall, 8am-1pm. Our May meeting will be the Friday before, May 10th; not our usual 3rd Friday of the month. We will set up our donated items organized by tables. Everyone is invited. Make sure to let your friends and family know about this wonderful way to donate items that are no longer needed on May 10th and to make a monetary donation for treasures they never knew they needed on May 11th. This is a great way support our organization!

The Idaho Field of Heroes committee is looking for assistance this year for field set up. If you would like to be part of this wonderful tribute to our fallen, just head out to the field the week of May 20th to help. Thursday, May 23rd the committee is asking for assistance in placing the trilogy and branch flags as well as perimeter flags in the evening. Friday, May 24th starting at 8:00pm until Saturday, May 25th at 8:00am is our evening to provide security for field. I will be asking for shift time confirmation at our meeting.

Memorial Day, Monday, May 27th is our 21st Annual Idaho Thunder Run. We will meet at 7:00am at Rest Lawn Cemetery to place American flags along the drive and then 8:30am start mustering at Century High School. This event is open to EVERYONE and is a rain or shine event. I am praying for a gorgeous day. Lunch will be available at the field for $10 and you will pay at the concessions trailer. Burgers, dogs, chips and drink are on the menu. We will be performing the Retire with Respect ceremony again this year at the field, so this will be a great spot to grab lunch before we head up to the Veteran’s Home to mingle with our local Heroes on the Hill.

July 27, 2024 will be our 24th Annual POW*MIA Awareness Rally & Motorcycle Rodeo at Power County Fairgrounds in American Falls. A1 Crane has confirmed they will have their crane out there to fly our huge POW*MIA flag that can be seen from the freeway. Our vendor registration button on the website is active and accepting the vendor fees of $100. Any vendors that would like to be part of the rally, please direct them to https://powmiarodeo.org/awareness-rally/ so they can sign up. I have had a few already contact me about being part of the Rally this year, so I wanted to make sure registration was open for them.

Please read the March General Membership Meeting Minutes, so we will be able to take a vote to accept or amend them. Keep an eye on the calendar and Facebook for all of our events.

Look forward to seeing you at our April General Membership Meeting on Friday, April 19th at 7pm at Liberty Hall. We are going to discuss our next possible raffle item so I encourage you to attend so you can have your advice hear. Have a great week!

Thank you,
