Campgrounds Information 2008

You’re going to love camping with us at the 2008 POW*MIA Awareness Rally.
Set on the east bench of Pocatello, the Bannock County Fairgrounds is a pretty nice facility. The campground has 96 grassy RV sites, most of them pretty darned level and each equipped with its own water and electricity hookups. Even the road between the rows of sites is a reasonable mix of dirt and gravel, not overly dusty and fairly easy to navigate on a motorcycle. RV spaces are $20/night or pay for 3 nights by June 1st and pay only $50 total. Set up an additional tent on your RV space for $5 a night.
If you’re tent camping this year, we have a huge grassy area a short walk south from the RV campground, only $10 a night, or pay for 3 nights by June 1st and pay only $25 total, and it can accommodate zillions of tent-ers and their motorcycles.
If you are a tenter that needs water and electricity, you can rent a space in the RV campground for the same $20/night an RV would pay or pay for 3 nights by June 1st and pay only $50 total. Each additional tent you set up in your RV space, whether for your family or for friends, will cost an extra $5 a night.
Of course, all campers have access to the shower building, which stands in the center of the RV campground. This isn’t an icky place to be barefoot. Rather, it’s an updated brick structure with private stalls, a vanity with multiple sinks and a mirror running the length of it, and fiberglass showers—with hot water. It’s clean, roomy, well lighted, and in good repair.
Spaces in the RV campground will be reserved on a first-come, first-served basis, according to payment received. Reserve your spot for Friday and Saturday night and add Thursday night and pay by June 1st for the discount. If you stay on Friday night, you must also pay for Saturday night, as we have no way of tracking those who check out early. However, we will refund your Saturday fee if you check out by 1:00 PM that day.
We have a great team of security personnel, many of them with military or civilian police experience. Each equipped with communication radios, they’ll be wheeling around on ATVs, patrolling the grounds 24 hours a day.
By the way, doggies are welcome, but they must be on a leash at all times. And you must clean up their “residue.” It bums us out to get dog-boo on our rides.
Because the fairground is set on a hill, the facility is on two levels. But all the cool stuff is within an easy walking distance.
Up a half–dozen steps from the campground, you’ll find our vendors on a fenced expanse of lawn, a pleasant stroll for shoppers. Adjacent to that, the grandstand has oodles of bleacher seating, and it’s fully covered—shaded most hours of the day, and dry if it rains. The area under the grandstand is a bonus; paved and enclosed, like a big garage, it’s a great place to sit at one of the picnic tables to enjoy a burger and a beer. And the parking lot is enormous, a large portion of it paved. We’ll have an area set aside for motorcycle parking.
The Bannock County Fairgrounds is only a few miles from numerous hotels and restaurants, as well as easy access to I-86 and I-15. And because the grounds overlook the city, you’re going to love the view and our glorious Rocky Mountain sunsets. Please make plans to join us—and reserve your spot soon.
