There were some scheduling issue with the Red Lion and most of our meetings had to be moved around a bit. I hope that this will not be a problem for most of you in making the meetings as we need each and everyone of your involvement in making this year a success! All meetings are held at the Red Lion at 7pm. Here are the up coming dates:

~ Bring your ideas for our 2011 Rally Shirt and Pin Designs. It can be something you draw, something you see on the Internet. Just bring your ideas and we will begin working on our new design. Feel free to call Shannon 221-1294 or Faylynn 240-8671 with any ideas, comments, or questions. We need all ideas by the General Meeting in March. Also if you are ever in need of discussing an issue with the board. Board Meetings are held the Wednesday before the General Meeting and are open to general members. Just let a board member know that you would like to present something and you will be put on the agenda.

POW*MIA Distro #49

Greetings All,

Please note the correction on the date for the 5th Annual POW*MIA Bikers for Blood Drive. The correct date is Thursday, December 16.

THANK YOU Jill “Spanky” Tydeman for putting together an awesome Christmas Party and thank you to everyone that helped her out setting up or taking down. It was a great start to the holiday season and I’m glad I could spend it with each of you, dress and all!!!

TODAY Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day Program on Tuesday, December 7th, at the Idaho State Veterans Home 2:30. Sorry for the late notice on this one.

Also, the Salvation Army is in need of some volunteers to help with the Secret Santa Tree. They need help filling two hour shifts. Please contact Brenda Ames at the Pocatello Salvation Army at 232-5318 if you can give them a hand.

UPCOMING EVENTS:

Saturday, December 11 ~ Wreaths Across America ~ 10am Pocatello Veterans Memorial at Upper Ross Park ~ This event is organized by the Civil Air Patrol, but we support it as an Association with our participation and sponsoring of wreaths. Wreaths Across America was formed as an extension of the Arlington Wreath Project. Wreaths are laid at Arlington National Cemetery and OVER 450+ participating locations across the Country on the 2nd Saturday in December to Remember; Honor; and Teach about the sacrifices made by our Nation’s Veterans. For those not able to attend, please pass the word that there will be a Moment of Silence at Noon EST, where people all across the Nation will stop and share a silent thank you, to all those who serve, to all we’ve lost, and to their families who will be without loved ones this holidays.

Thursday, December 16 ~ 5th Annual POW*MIA Bikers for Blood Drive ~ The Red Cross will be taking blood from 1pm – 7pm at the Red Lion Hotel, 1555 Pocatello Creek Road ~ You can become an angel this holiday season and you don’t even need to own a motorcycle or have a pair of wings! Donating blood is a gift that will not cost you anything except a little of your time. We are teaming with the American Red Cross to create awareness in our community of the need for blood. Every two seconds in the U.S. someone needs blood. Every 20 minutes someone in Idaho needs blood. One in two people in their lifetime will need blood. Help us to be able to fulfill this ever increasing need by donating.

Please call Casey “X-Ray” Jackman 709-2317and Michelle “Headshot” Jackman 220-1045 to schedule your appointment to become an angel.

NEED CHRISTMAS PRESENTS!!! The POW*MIA trailer will be there, so come check us out for you shopping needs.

Before the Blood Drive join us for breakfast at Jumbos, 3122 Poleline Road, 9am ~ Then over to the Red Lion to Set-Up

Thank you all for all that you do,

From: Joe Richardson

Subject: Warning To All Veterans – Not A Joke

On November 28, 2010 Arthur Craig Mizner sends:

WARNING TO VETERANS – Forwarded by Kevin Secor, VSO Liaison, Office of the Secretary of the Department of Veterans Affairs.

An organization called Veterans Affairs Services (VAS) is providing benefit and general information on VA and gathering personal information on veterans. This organization is not affiliated with VA in any way.

http://www.vaservices.org/us/index.html

VAS may be gaining access to military personnel through their close resemblance to the VA name and seal. Our Legal Counsel has requested that we coordinate with DoD to inform military installations, particularly mobilization sites, of this group and their lack of affiliation or endorsement by VA to provide any services.

In addition, GC requests that if you have any examples of VAS acts that violate chapter 59 of Title 38 United States Code, such as VAS employees assisting veterans in the preparation and presentation of claims for benefits, please pass any additional information to Mr.Daugherty at the address below.
