This poem is read to everyone who arrives home to us at their "Welcome Home" Ceremony.
It's the soldier, not the reporter who has given us
Freedom of the Press.
It's the soldier, not the poet, who has given us
Freedom of Speech.
It's the soldier, not the campus organizer, who has given us the
Freedom to Demonstrate.
It's the soldier, not the lawyer, who has given us the
Right to a Fair Trial.
It's the soldier who salutes the flag, serves under the flag and
whose coffin is draped by the flag,
Who gives the protestor the right to burn the flag.
~Father Dennis Edward O'Brien, USMC
More TRUTH to Think about....
Respect is something that must first be earned...
Before it is expected.
~Ron Ponton, CAP Marine
SAYING SOMETHING POSITIVE AND TRUTHFUL ABOUT AMERICAN VETERANS DOES NOT PRAISE WAR, AMERICA'S... PAST, PRESENT AND FUTURE WERE EARNED BY THOSE WHO SERVED
"No one wants war less than someone who has been in one."
Thomas Jefferson
"The willingness with which our young people are likely to serve in any war, no matter how justified, shall be directly proportional to how they perceive veterans of early wars were treated and appreciated by our nation." - George Washington
